Salvation Tattoo is an establishment in Richmond. In the world of businesses that come and go, that term holds value, and this city especially. The owners are wonderful people and the staff follows that example. Ive had so many conversations that turn into a group discussion around the shop. This is just an example of how this shop makes you feel welcome and gives a vibe of community. I have been a customer of this shop for 6 or 7 years now. I will commute from out of town when I move, just to get this same shop feel, ambiance, and OF COURSE, quality of work. Katie Davis for all of your Audubon, botanical needs and MORE (OR DIEEEEE)!!!

My friends and I had called the day before to see if there was availability and there happened to have been a cancelation so they put us in for the three of us to get in right after another for small tattoos. The guy I talked to said he put us in at 430 but told me to call to see if they wanted us in earlier since it was a new crew on due to covid. We didn't call, because we had plans during the day and thought 430 would be perfect for us. We happened to finished our activity early so we called about 330 to see what their schedule was like and the girl told me they had canceled our appointments because we never called. I was a little taken back by that, since they guy we had spoken to confirmed the appointments just the evening before. Thankfully Mike, one of the artists, finished up early and had a break in his schedule so he very graciously took us on. We were in and out of there quickly but definitely didn't feel rushed. We all love our pieces and are so glad it worked out.
It was definitely frustrating with the miscommunication (hence the 4 stars). I understand the need to stagger schedules, but there should be one person scheduling so appointments aren't just canceled without any back story or client information.
Otherwise, it was a great location and Mike was awesome and we all love our new tattoos!

Great experience overall.
Had a personal large piece (3.5 hours) done by Josh. He did an amazing job of listening to what I wanted and worked with me to put something memorable together. His work is bold and has awesome detail. He takes care in everything he does from start to finish. The shop is welcoming and everyone is friendly and positive. Highly recommend it.

Highly recommend going here! I was suggested Josh but ended up getting tattooed by Mike who was amazing and did such a great job. This shop is filled with very friendly and down right genuine cool people. Prices are very fair! Always consider that you are not paying for Just a tattoo, youβre paying for someoneβs art that will last you forever. Great experience canβt wait for my next piece.

Salvation Gallery is a really lovely establishment. Every staff member present during my long appointment today was really nice and personable, and the location interior was handsome and clean. Josh Autrey performed my tattooing today, and he was absolutely wonderful. He was a great conversationalist, as well as professional and a great communicator leading up to the appointment. I cant wait to go back and get my tattoo finished!

Iβve been tattooed at 10+ shops, many of them in RVA, and this is the best of them. Atmosphere is chill, shop is clean, artists are friendly and professional, and the tattoos never disappoint. If you want a fair priced tattoo that will last a long time, salvation is the spot.

I was able to watch Fred work with one of my friends to produce an absolutely gorgeous tattoo! He is a skilled artist - and exceptionally reasonably priced! His shading is unbelievable and he has such an eye for detail! Added fun factor: you are supporting a great local business and helping these awesome individuals live their dreams!

I got a tattoo from James. It was my first tattoo and was a really good experience. It came out beautifully and in a much shorter period of time than I expected. Super excited to have his work on my leg.

Awesome tattoo parlor! I was treated with respect as soon as i walked in. I do not live in richmond but they help arrange my appointment over the phone. I had to cancel once, and they were cool with it. Very chill people. Plus the work that is done there is spectacular. I suggest going there over any other place in the state. Its worth the drive if your not local.

I went in for a custom Traditional Japanese style tattoo. I had already decided I wanted Katie Davis to do it because I love her style. From making my appointment to getting tattooed, I ended up speaking with just about everyone that works there and I was really stoked on how friendly and inviting they were. Some tattoo shops have a tendency to give off that "we're too cool for everyone" vibe (whether they mean to or not). I didn't get that from Salvation and I definitely didn't get it from Katie. She was a real pro and super-fast with the outline. I'm stoked to go back and get my piece finished and will probably make an appointment with Fred Pinkard in the near future as I spoke at length with him while Katie tattooed me (Found out he's a Japanese style enthusiast as well, with really extensive knowledge- how cool!).
If you're thinking about some new ink, stop by Salvation. You won't regret it.
