I've gotten three tattoos from Russell personally. He is very professional and does great work. Overall the staff is just as professional. Everyone here loves what they do and it shows. I would highly recommend Russell and his crew if your look for a good tattoo.

I love my tattoo! Artists here are very friendly and funny. I have a great time Everytime I come in. Their art is phenomenal and they are true professionals. They use sterile technique and they keep the shop in to to shape, extremely clean. I highly recommend stopping in for a consult. Their pricing is fair and for the quality you get it's more than fair. They do custom work as well which is awesome.

i just want to say that Ashley Henson is one of the best artists I have been tattooed by. She is very versatile. She can do gorgeous flowers, realism, watercolor and traditional. She is a talented artist on canvas and paper also. You have to be able to draw or paint to be a great tattoo artist in my mind. You won't go wrong with Ashley.

So I moved to Charleston and needed a solid tattoo shop. I walked into upper hand the first week they opened, and met Russell. He was friendly, helpful, and an all around nice guy. He helped me decide on a tattoo and we went for it. During the tattoo process, we had great conversation which made the tattooing fly by. I really enjoyed that. The finished product, was amazing. His lines and coloring are perfect. I couldn't be happier with it. So I kept coming back and he has tatted me a few times. I found my shop for sure.
Let's not forget about Mr. John Black, who has also tatted me a few times. This dude has some awesome stories and has been doing it forever. His skills are second to none, and he did a very cool "Aloha Mickey" tattoo which I feel is very original.
Both guys have been a pleasure to get work done by, and I always recommend this shop to anyone that asks. The place is clean and inviting. I love it. Can't say enough good things. Keep it up guys! I'll be back soon.

I have been getting tattooed by lucky since 2013, since then he has opened up UpperHand Studios and I have been there quite a few times. He never disappoints. Is always customer friendly and is always focused on what you want out of your tattoo experience. I am almost done with a sleeve and all the work has been done by him. He's an awesome artist and doesn't make you feel insecure when walking into the shop. Whether it's your first tattoo or your 20th this is the place you need to go and it will have you returning for more! Awesome people, Awesome Ink Work. Awesome Experience.

Steve made what I imagined even better. My tattoo is amazing. The care instructions were right on and I had no issues with my tattoo. The inside is down right beautiful. Very upscale and classy. The place was so clean you could probably eat off the floor. I would definitely get other tattoos done here.

My artist was very quick and made the process as least painful as possible, while still pulling off amazing lines and giving great detail. Best of both worlds!
