I have ink from 7 different artists, and have been getting ink for many years. My search for a dependable artist stopped when I walked into Smalltown for the first time. I knew I had finallyf ound my place. Smalltown is my go-to shop now, and I would gladly put John Vanderpool up against any artist in the country. Atmosphere is excellent and very laid back; you don't feel like you're in a stereotypical tattoo shop. No intimidation, no belittling. Chris, John and Jen pride themselves on a clean working environment, and will happily show you their inspection results and certifications to prove it. What sets this shop apart from others that I've had work done at is the professionalism of the artists. My girlfriend went to get a large back piece tattoo that would leave her rather vulnerable for several hours. John was quite happy to ensure her privacy by cordoning off the area where the work was to be done, and insisted that nobody ventured into the work area. Felt like a very smoothly ran doctors office, and the product was top shelf. Don't listen to negative reviews without doing your due research; walk into the shop, talk to the artists, check out the environment. Your experience and final product will be more than you could've hoped for; like me you are destined to become a repeat customer.
