Do not see Ericka for anything past flowers, clocks, keys, and bees. Talented aspiring artist; absolute garbage client/customer care.
I made mistakes by not looking for the red flags as a first-time tattoo guy as well, so I will explain it all.
Detailed story:
I came in about 3 months ago for tattoo ideas; pinups, designs, etc. We exchanged emails, and I shared some photo ideas to her for creativity purposes. Getting a response was like pulling teeth (which I gave her the benefit of the doubt due to her role as an apprentice). Fast forward a couple of weeks, and she says she really likes one of the photos as her inspiration.
I come in, she starts the sketch RIGHT THERE without prepping in advance or figuring out where on the body it should go. After spending only ~20 minutes sketching out this massive photo, she comes to me and asks me where I want it. I should have said no in that moment because she showed me a LITERAL sketch of the photo I found online instead of her own design. 5 hours later, I have permanent garbage tattoo'd onto my arm. Ericka says there are a couple of things we can fix once the tattoo heals with the follow-up appointment; I spend the next 5 weeks trying to reach her via texts, email, and calls; no responses about the follow up. I decide to finally walk in there one day and ask her if we can set up a follow up to fix the issues of the tattoo. She looks at me with disgust for a second (like I just insulted her pride as an apprentice) and says "what needs fixing? I don't see anything wrong with it."
Now I'm spending another ~$1500 to get a massive coverup for this tattoo at another location.
P.S. Those photos on her instagram? Those are the only good ones she's proud of; mine aren't up there for the same reason I'm shelling almost 2 grand to get this fixed. So if you want cute bees and flowers, go to her all day. If you want anything more complex, DO NOT; she will NOT advise you to see somebody more qualified and will simply schedule the appointment, tattoo it, charge you, then leave you.
