Went there for the 1st time to get a tattoo from a guest artist. The place was clean the vibe hip and staff where friendly. The guest artist from Mexico was great and I'm looking forward to her return to Boston. Only critique the table for the client to lay could be more comfortable and perhaps water n snacks for the clients.

Came in to get a new septum ring. Brian was friendly and efficient - I was still in and out within 10-15 minutes. The fee for his service was very reasonable. The jewelry piece itself was admittedly more than I expected ($260 for 14k rose gold, hammered 3/8" ring). However, I wanted to get something high quality and subtle. It does seem like they have a decent variety of rings, so I'm sure someone can find something in their price range. Very responsive staff, *love* the ability to book online, and they accept credit cards. Professional, clean, and modern place.

Had a great experience here! I called asking if they accepted walk ins, which they did not, but they managed to get me in within a couple of days which was so great. Eddie did our tattoos, and he was so calming, conversational and did great work. The shop itself had a great vibe, it was clean and very well decorated. 10/10 would reccomend!

I am not into piercings and only have my ear lobes done - so when I went in I stated that I was a little nervous and looking for more information. The process was very transactional - I did not find the staff or piercer that friendly. I was in and out and just felt I was talked down to. I was also disapointed to find out that they did not provide their customers with saline solution for the piercing. Like i mentioned, I am not familiar with piercings but I felt a $40 piercing fee was a little high. Overall, I did find this place clean and efficient just not personal.

I worked with Ishraki and I must say it was the best tattoo experience I’ve had so far. Ishraki had amazing communication and went over every detail of the tattoo. Made sure it was what i wanted and that it would also look good when healed. I got a new favorite tattoo now!!!

Really take care and make sure your piercing is perfect! piercing itself is around ~40 but the jewelry is pretty expensive. I paid $85 to get my septum done.

I’ve been to Boston tattoo company multiple times at both Somerville and Medford. Recently I got a tattoo in Somerville and it was genuinely the worst experience I have had with an artist. I went with my partner to get matching tattoos and the end results look drastically different, which is really disappointing because they were supposed to be really special and now they’re just a sad reminder of this horrible experience. To start, the tatto was literally three lines and somehow the two tattoos look different. They tattoos both vary in thickness, mine looking very thick and my partners looking thin. The artist showed up 20 minutes pst our scheduled appointment time and then we waited another 30 for them to set up, which is completely fine and expected. When we finally went to his room for the tattoo he placed the stencil on my partner and said we needed to let it dry and then left us alone for another 15ish minutes while he went to get coffee. My tattoo is completely blown out and the ink spread and also extremely faded somehow? I have multiple tattoos, and every artist I go to says I heal them well, so I know this wasn’t for my lack of applying aquaphor after the tattoo. The tattoo quality itself is horrible. I’ve had some really great tattoos done at BTC (and if I was based off those I would give them a 5 star, but based solely of this appointment and interaction I have to give them a 2/5), but after this I can’t go back because it was truly so uncomfortable and such a let down.

The last two interactions I've had with employees of this location include watching a Jeep near miss of a pedestrian with a stroller, and being turned away at the door looking for jewelry they no longer sell as it's 'out of style' recommending me to go to another 'local shop'. So, not paying attention to detail when it matters, and not selling wares. Sure, I will go to another shop, good recommendation.

I had a wonderful experience at The Boston Tattoo Company. My artist, Alicia Thomas, was very responsive when I initially reached out to her for two small arm pieces I was interested in getting done. I e-mailed her the concepts and she drew them out for me, and despite both our busy schedules we finally set up appointment. She is just as nice in person! I was there for two hours and she completed both of my tattoos. I couldn't be happier with them! I 100% recommend this tattoo shop and specifically Alicia Thomas. I can't wait to for her to finish my sleeve!

I went in with a nervous young lady for a piercing. The girl was wonderful to her. So very patient.
