Made True Tattoo

I have been wanting a color floral half sleeve for about 10 years and finally decided to take the leap. After hours of research I finally came across Adam Kindervatter at Made True Tattoo. His portfolio showed his clean linework and attention to detail, so I made an appointment! I did a consult to talk about the design and then I made two appointments to come back a few weeks later to start the work. It wasn't like other places where it took months to get in.

I also did a small 'tester' tattoo the week I started my half sleeve since I hadn't gotten any tattoos yet and wanted to see what it felt like. Even for such a small tattoo on my wrist it was so clean! I have had 2 appointments for my sleeve so far with another few to go to color it in. I also enjoy talking to Adam - he is so easy to talk I hardly forget I've been there for hours.

Had an awesome experience with Hannah Smyle yesterday. She was compassionate and took her time creating this piece. She mover the stencil multiple times just to ensure the placement was perfect. Terry, the owner, helped out as did Lily and Adam. The entire experience from consult to aftercare was top notch. The shop was clean and peaceful.

I had a great experience at the shop! The atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. Hannah did my tattoo, and she was pleasant and sweet the entire time! The process was over quicker than I expected but the tattoo turned out beautiful and detailed! She also worked with me to modify an existing flash I really loved as it was already claimed. All in all, amazing time and would definitely come back to get tatted by her again!

I had gotten a tattoo done by Terry almost 15 years ago at another shop in Frederick. I tracked him down here where he is now the owner of his own shop. My original tattoo had faded quite a bit, mostly due to neglect on my end. He remembered doing my tattoo all those years ago and gave me a great deal on having it touched up. He was very professional and explained the process to me step by step. My tattoo looks so much better now.

I’ve had a tattoo (or 2) from everyone in the shop and have only had positive, fun experiences.

The artists at Made True are great in their own right, but they are all very honest and up front. If they aren’t the artist for you or think the design and/or location won’t work, they tell you! I wanted a tattoo on the side of my hand/palm and Terry told me it would be hard to keep from blowout, would fade super fast, and I wouldn’t like it. He told me straight up: I could get it, but he wouldn’t be doing it. We had that conversation years ago and I still remember because that’s what I want and need from someone placing permanent ink on me.

On the flip side, they are all so creative and have incredible artistry and can take your ideas or concept and turn it into this gorgeous piece of art you get to see everyday and enjoy the rest of your life!

I love the open floor concept because it allows the artists to talk and have a desirable working environment while you’re zoning out. It gives you the chance to see what the other artists are doing and if you need a distraction, you can join the shop conversation.

I’m a huge fan of Terry, Hannah, Lili, Adam, and their whole shop team (even Austin🤪). I highly recommend them and have no plans to go anywhere else.

I absolutely love Made True Tattoo. I followed my tattoo artist, Hannah, here and I’m so glad I did. The atmosphere is incredible; I always feel comfortable and never feel awkward. The artists are super talented and the receptionists are wonderful. I have loved every experience of being tattooed here. Give them a call if you’re ever in need of a great piece.

Would recommend! I have gotten 2 tattoos from Hannah. She is very sweet and fun. All the staff was friendly. The shop is clean and not intimidating. Great experience!

It's been several years since I was last tattooed and during a pandemic I was definitely anxious about it. The shop was very clean and everyone in there was kind and professional and masked. my mind was put at ease right away.
Adam Tattooed me and he did phenomenal work. His shading and line work are so beautiful I can't stop staring at it. But not only that he was easy to talk to which made the 4 hrs go very quickly. I can't recommend this enough. one of my best tattoo experiences.

Friday night Hanna called at 8:00pm., to cancel a next day appt??? She didn’t want to do my tattoo??? I sent her exactly what I wanted a week or so ahead of time, told her placement and sent a large deposit. She wanted drawings ASAP which I had sent them 6 days before my appt. She never called or asked questions so I assumed she drew it and I trusted her that she would do a nice job. She just told me she didn’t feel like she could do it. They treated me horrible like I did something wrong??? I keep asking what I did for them to cancel me and basically, she just never took the time to do a drawing or call me if she had questions. I mean it was just a flower. Then the manager said in two years she never had a complaint??? He then of course, found reason that were not valid to why she refused to do my tattoo. I didn’t complain except they kicked me to the curb and she was really short and rude. Frankly, I was hurt, confused and upset. She just took my deposit, never bothered to draw a basic flower I wanted and then cancelled saying it was me???? The manager backed her so, it was just a brutal hurt. I gave them every thing they ask for and was pleasant and nice until I told them them at 9:pm what I thought of them and their shop in very descriptive words and hung up. I never met them, her or their shop. They were mean and hurtful and Hanna clearly could not take the time to even draw up the flower. Sad.

I've only been here twice and it has easily become my favorite tattoo shop so far. Tons of walk-in times, very attentive artists, clean shop, great front desk service. I always feel welcome here, and Joe completely nailed my newest (and fav!) tattoo design of a coffee plant. Highly recommend this shop.
