Electric Crayon Tattoo Co.
Review of Electric Crayon Tattoo Co.
Electric Crayon Tattoo Co. is a tattoo and body piercing shop located in Aurora, Colorado. The shop offers a range of tattoo and piercing services, including custom designs and cover-ups. The shop has a welcoming atmosphere and is staffed by experienced tattoo artists and piercers.
The shop has received mixed reviews from customers. Some customers have praised the shop for its talented artists and quality work. One customer mentioned that they have been getting tattoos from Steve Smith since 2014 and hold the shop and Steve in a special place in their heart. They also mentioned that the shop has clean lines, beautiful work, and great vibes. Another customer praised Bri for being an amazing piercer who is kind and helpful.
However, other customers have had negative experiences at the shop. One customer mentioned that they received a sloppy and almost unreadable tattoo from Steve after being told it would take between 2-3 hours. They felt that Steve didn't care about their piece because it wasn't his original art. Another customer mentioned that they had a poor experience with their nose and daith piercings. They felt that the piercer didn't talk them through the daith piercing and their ear canal immediately filled with blood. They also mentioned that the shop recommended washing the piercings with soap on q-tips, which caused the skin around both piercings to become extremely dry and their piercings don't feel clean at all.
The shop's prices have also been a point of contention for some customers. One customer mentioned that they felt they were taken advantage of because they came in as a walk-in and were charged $250 for a tattoo that took less than an hour. Another customer mentioned that they felt the shop was overpriced for the work they received.
Overall, Electric Crayon Tattoo Co. has a range of talented artists and piercers, but customers should be aware of the mixed reviews and pricing concerns before choosing to get a tattoo or piercing at the shop.

I came here to get tattooed by Steve after doing a deep dive into his work and falling in love. When I arrived at the appointment I showed him the general idea of what I wanted and he took the exact design and turned it into a stencil. I was told it would take between 2-3 hours. The tattooing experience itself wasnโt bad, he was friendly and we had good conversations. The tattoo was done in 45 minutes which should have been my first red flag. The finished piece is sloppy and almost unreadable. Itโs very dark so thereโs no fixing or covering it up. My only options are to continue to hide it or get it removed. It genuinely feels like he didnโt care about my piece because it wasnโt his original art. I just wish he would have been honest about not wanting to do it before putting subpar work on my body.

If you're not going here. You're wrong. This is the best place, I've been getting tattoos since 2014 by Steve Smith and I'll hold this shop, and Steve in a special place in my heart. They are incredible people. Not enough amazing things to say about them. The absolute best in my opinion. Clean lines, beautiful work, great vibes. Some of my oldest tattoos from Steve are still as vibrant as ever. Love you guys โค๏ธ

My husband, sister and I came in for piercings, she wanted her belly button done. We were hoping Bree was in, since we seen good reviews on her.. The person who was going to do it seemed knowledgeable about what he was doing until he pierced the needle through my sisters belly button. He messed up, saying he went to far and the jewelry would be too tight. So he pulled the needle out a little then pushed it threw creating another hole under the first one. Then realizing it was crooked. His hands were shaking the entire time! He then asked if she wanted him to try again! I have a video but I can't post. I'd recommend going to Seth at Planet X Tattoo & Supply. He did great on my nose and my husband's eyebrow. My sister has to wait a couple weeks to a month, before she's able to pierce her belly button.

The shop atmosphere is amazing which is why I left the 2nd star but the overall experience with my tattoo was poor. I came in about a year ago to get a birthday tattoo. This was not my first tattoo of color or even the largest. When explaining to the artist what I was wanting he mentioned the color being light on my skin tone and we may need to go over it again later to get the desired look which I was totally fine with. While doing the tattoo I mentioned it seemed a bit more painful than usual which he kind of brushed off. Once completed the tattoo looked okay a bit my red and bleeding than usual but he said it would fade. After a couple of days healing I realized there open cuts on my tattoo. Below is a picture of the tattoos couple of days after getting it and fully healed tattoo which is terribly scared. When taking this to another trusted artist he let me know it happened because the artist was digging the color into my arm which left the cuts and caused the tattoo to scar. I was super excited about getting this because of the meaning behind it and itโs really unfortunate the artist left me with such a poor end result.

I would like to be able to say I loved my experience at electric crayon but that wasnโt the case. I got my nose and my daith pierced there earlier this week. Unfortunately the piercer didnโt talk me through my daith piercing so I had no idea how painful it would actually be. I knew it was going to hurt, but not that much. My ear canal also immediately filled with blood because they didnโt place a cotton ball or anything in my ear. I immediately couldnโt hear much out of my ear and they didnโt even have any q-tips for me to try to get the blood out. I had a hard time hearing out of my right ear for the rest of the day until I was able to get home and wash my ear out. They also recommended I wash my piercings with soap on q-tips, which has caused the skin around both piercings to become extremely dry and my piercings donโt feel clean at all, and fibers from the q-tips keep getting stuck on my jewelry, causing irritation. Iโll be switching to a saline spray instead. Also the post on my nose piercing isnโt long enough to compensate for the swelling and Iโm having to ice my nose a lot just to get the swelling to go down so it doesnโt feel so tight against the jewelry. Iโm disappointed that my experience wasnโt great.

I really love my tattoo i got from Stevie. After everyone sees it they want to go here. I have brought a couple people here so they can get the same experience I got. Wich makes me feel good but actually speaks volumes about Stevies ability as an artist.

My brother and I went here for our first tattoos back in November. I came in with a drawing I made the night before and the next day we had an appointment. Javi and Steve made us feel welcome from the start. Before we showed up Steve was already working on my tattoo design for the stencil. He came out made sure everything was right for my liking and explained how it would come out and if something wasnt exactly how I designed it before. He made sure I was comfortable the whole time. He talked to me through out the tattoo and so did Javi. Even when my parents left to get dinner, they made sure I felt as comfortable as could be, showing me their tattoos and or just talking to me about life and my design. He was so open to doing my mental health piece and even asked me questions about it. Overall this tattoo has made me feel whole and I couldn't ask for a better one. Steve walked me through step by step on the healing process and it was a great process overall. He told us that if anything fades or scabs away during the healing process to come back in a month for a free touch up. After months of having this tattoo, I have no complaints, it didnt fade and the line work is amazing and it was everything I wanted in my first tattoo. Highly recommend Steve and the shop as a whole. Will definitely be my first option for any other tattoos to get.

I love the environment and the artists are always amazing! I got my calf tattooed by Brady and it was a super fun experience. I went in with a reference picture and he worked with me until we came up with a design I liked. He was transparent about price from the beginning and even followed up to make sure it healed the way we wanted it to. Definitely going back!!

This is the ONLY place that I'll go for my daughter's piercings. Their piercer has done every one of her piercings and is both professional and knowledgeable
